licensing - FAQ
Do I need to purchase a Commercial License?
A Commercial License is required if you intend to use my recorded audio for business, monetization, or any commercial purpose, including but not limited to:
Explainer videos for your website or products/services
Organic social media posts promoting a brand or service (even without ads)
Monetized social media posts (e.g., ads, sponsorships, affiliate links)
Email campaigns (newsletters or promotions)
Video games (sold, paid, include in-app purchases, or generating revenue)
Audiobooks, podcasts, or audio projects for commercial distribution
Internal company videos for business or commercial use
Does the Commercial License expire?
A Commercial License permits the use of content for promotional purposes within the specified duration you select (e.g., 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or indefinitely). You can let me know your preferred duration.
So, yes or no, depending on which duration you choose.
Upon expiration or termination of the Commercial License, all rights to use the voice over content shall immediately cease. The Client must promptly remove or delete all copies and instances of the voice over content from any platform, medium, or device under their control.
When is a Commercial License Is Not Required?
If the content is pure entertainment and not monetized (i.e., you're not making money from the content through ads, sponsorships, or other forms of revenue), a commercial license is not required.
A commercial license is not required for non-monetized social media accounts or channels. However, if the content becomes monetized in the future, the client agrees to contact me to obtain the appropriate commercial license.
What is the difference between Commercial and Broadcast License?
The Commercial License covers online use, including social media, websites, video games, and other digital content. The Broadcast License is for paid advertisements aired on TV, radio, or streaming platforms like Spotify or Hulu.
Who owns the voiceover content and what rights do I get with a license?
The Voice Actor retains full ownership and copyright of all voiceover content. When you purchase a license, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the voiceover content only as specified in the license agreement (including usage type, duration, and platforms).
Can I transfer, resell, or sublicense the licensed voiceover content?
No. All licenses are strictly personal to the Client and cannot be transferred, resold, sublicensed, shared, or distributed to any third parties without the Voice Actor’s explicit prior written consent.
Am I allowed to modify or edit the voiceover content under the license?
Adding voice effects (e.g., reverb, delay, splicing audio, gain leveling, ambience, or repairing audio such as removing unwanted noises) is permitted.
The license does not permit any AI-generated modifications to the audio, including but not limited to any form of editing, transformation, or synthesis, under any circumstances. Nor may the audio be used for AI training, machine learning, or similar purposes.
What happens if I use the voiceover content beyond the scope of the license?
Unauthorized use, distribution, modification, or use of the voiceover content outside the agreed license terms constitutes a material breach of the agreement. In such cases, the voice actor reserves the right to immediately terminate the license and pursue any and all legal remedies, including but not limited to monetary damages, injunctive relief, and recovery of legal fees and costs.

Television or radio commercials aired on broadcast or cable networks
Paid advertisements on streaming platforms (e.g., audio or video ads on Spotify, Hulu, YouTube, etc.)
